Legal. Parking was not an issue and there is a minimal fee for entry. My mind’s motor was working through thoughts of the men who’s iron will was forged on this same mountain road 70-some years ago. Parked in the Pickens Depot parking area even though it isn’t officially open yet. Hike or run the historic Currahee Mountain, the mountain of “Band of Brothers” fame, to long-range summit views, and visit the tumbling waterfall at Toccoa Falls.“Three Miles Up, Three Miles Down!” Not the most encouraging words you want to hear when you’re setting out on an outdoor adventure. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.Note: This trail is currently closed due to COVID-19. The waterfalls are pretty.This isn't really a hike but totally worth the visit! And again, they were in my thoughts as I parked at the bottom of the mountain and assessed the challenge in front of me. The trail is primarily used for walking and bird watching. If you're driving up here, plan to tack on another trail as this one won't take you long at all.Beautiful waterfall!
There is a $2 entry fee and you go through the gift shop to gain access to the path. Two beautiful falls (the second one is small and tucked behind the old hydroelectric plant) and the campus is lovely and idyllic.
