Belvedere Hotel can be seen in the top left part of the image. What’s well established is that it was built right after the mountain pass was completed, probably as a lounge for people who wished to escape and enjoy the silence, or attend one of the many lavish parties held inside. The location can’t be beat, walking distance to shopping, souvenirs, grocery store, the First and Pfingstegg cable cars, and easy to catch the bus. My wife found a 4cm piece of sharp plastic in her sorbet (probably from the sorbet box) which could have been very dangerous had she not seen it. The manager of the hotel, Madam Vincenza, was attentive to our needs, and went above and beyond in helping us feel as we were home. The bartender put on a show and always had a smile, as did the entire staff. The breakfast was plentiful and delicious, from the fresh honey comb to the family garden currant jam.
