So I am glad I saw it once but doubt I will be watching it again Turner's motives are never explained other than that he is a fading star whose avant-garde work is not appreciated (although that is not a clear motivation in his relationships since his mistreatment of women seems to far predate his fall from the artistic firmament). 4.5 / 5 stars 56% 97%. Turner was a child prodigy and had a long career and was a good looking guy to boot. I wondered in the first few minutes if I would be watching the film through to the end. Mike Leigh's biopic is so richly detailed that it feels like a documentary. If you're a feminist, you might take umbrage at his treatment of several women in his life, but alas, that's the world he lived in. With Timothy Spall, Paul Jesson, Dorothy Atkinson, Marion Bailey.
