No bugs and well maintained Trail was amazing, we completed it all with an eight and four year old. Shaded.This was an excellent trail. You few waterfalls from above but the whole trail had waterfalls all the way to few. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.Public Notice Ongoing: The staircase at the main falls is inaccessible. 3/4 of a mile to the big falls slightly more if you choose to hike to the bottom. Restroom facilities No idea why they say steep, it was incredibly easy and all stairs for hard parts. The small falls at the top of the trail are great to walk around in. In addition each campsite has a four sided...Upon entering Rock Island State Park from the east, the parking area for this trail is located right after the old cotton mill (my friend and I actually ended up getting lost because it is tucked away there quite nicely). The overlook is accessible, but the stairs down to the main falls will remained closed until further notice.Parking lot accommodates several cars and Small RV's
Definitely take the trail that leads down to the top of the waterfall for an awesome view of the gorge. There are several signs stating that the hike is strenuous, but we didn't find it too difficult. Otherwise this is a fantastic hike regardless.Nice fairly easy hike with beautiful cascades and waterfalls. The falls themselves were fabulous! the trail to the lower falls was closed when we visited. Walked down to the top of the falls and it was beautiful. I don't want to give it a lower review because the main waterfall looks AMAZING, but check the State Park's website to make sure the lower falls is open before you go. The last of these falls is the most spectacular, plunging more than 130 feet into the gorge. Can't wait to come back!Super easy, really beautiful. Short trail to a great overlook and to the top of the falls. Short but with a decent elevation climb at points, you'll get your heart rate up without exertion.
You can get to burgess falls state park by getting off of Interstate 40 at exit 286 in Cookeville, Tennessee. I would recommend this trail for anyone wanting a nice relaxing hike with a little extra cardio if you take the stairs to the top of Burgess Falls. It is well worth a stop, but that said, there are some things you need to known in advance. easy for all ages with wonderful view. One thing is that people need to pack out their trash. The 1.5-mile round-trip River Trail/Service Road Loop is a moderately strenuous hike taking visitors past four waterfalls on the Falling Water River. A person can kayak to the base of the falls from cane hollow road though.Crowded today, but got there a little later than planned (around noon). When we got back to the car, there were so many more people. it finally ends with an over look of Burgess Falls. We went Sunday morning and it was quite busy. This family-friendly mile and half hike leads to the stunning 136 foot Burgess Falls.If you like waterfalls, this hike is for you. Burgess Falls State Park is an extremely scenic spot for hikers. Floating Mill Park is located on the shores of the scenic Center Hill Lake on central Tennessee's Highland Rim. Starts with a small set of falls, then mid way through you come to a medium set. You can hike down to the top of the falls. There didn’t seem to be any lack of maintenance and things were pretty nice. Walk was steep but fine for my 2 year old to join us. Great hike even for your four-legged friends! However the ranger at the gates was a giant a$$ hole but we finally got in. Tip: go early. I would do this hike and Cummings falls in the same day.The stairs down to the lower level were closed due to flood damage, but you could still hike down to the upper half of the falls. Keep in mind that you can not reach the bottom of the waterfall, unless you have a kayak. We got there shortly after opening and were alone for the most part. Just a lot of steps. It’s pretty safe and is a neat experience. One of the original overlooks is blocked off due to damage and will eventually be fixed.The park is in the middle of upgrading facilities such as bathrooms and area before the trail head.Easy quick hike. 931-432-5312From Sparta, Tennessee: intersection Hwy 70 & Hwy 111; go north on Hwy 111 to Hwy 135/County Hwy 1142; turn West to park.Great falls! Nice gravel path to the overlook if you can't handle the uneven ground or roots on the path. There are a few spots for swimming so bring your suit if it's a warm day.It's an easy hike suitable for children, but be sure to wear good shoes with grip - it can get slippery towards the end at the big waterfall.You'll find the trailhead on the west side of the parking lot - it is well signed.When I went the stairs were still washed out to the base. Can’t go to the base of the falls anymore though, due to the state not wanting to replace the metal staircase that washed out. My 11 year old and I made a quick trip after completing Window Cliffs trail nearby. There are two trails, the main loop at 1.5 miles and a possible .5 mile extension, which provide stunning views of the park. Burgess Falls Trail is a 1.8 kilometer heavily trafficked out and back trail located near Baxter, Tennessee that features a waterfall and is good for all skill levels.
