This is also the first project of its kind in the region, and will be developed according to the highest international standards. The 2,400MW Hassyan clean coal power station is an ultra-supercritical (USC) power plant being developed in Saih Shuaib, Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The cost of each phase of the Dubai power station is estimated to be between $2bn and $3bn.

This is a 2x660 MW imported coal based thermal project which is being developed in two phases of 1x660 MW (super-critical) each and has a Cost plus Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) tied up with the state utility companies for the first phase (1x660 MW).

The station is reportedly a reworked version of earlier plans to build a US$1.3 billion gas-fueled Hassyan power and water project, which DEWA put off indefinitely in April 2013. The project was designed to meet the increasing demand for power and water in Dubai, and will be carried out in six phases. Dubai Electricity & Water Authority (DEWA) has retendered its 120 Million Gallons Per Day (MIGD) Hassyan Sea Water Reverse Osmosis Plant (SWRO) Project using the Independent Water Producer (IWP) model and is inviting bids for the process.
