Easy overnight trip if you camp by the river by hiking down beside the lookout. While on the main horse trail you will come across many trails to your right, heading into the forest. Nice to see horses on trail rides along the trail. Was dry throughout. It is an area that includes alpine, subalpine and boreal upland ecoregions with a significant population of grizzly bears, elk, goats and mountain sheeps.From the trailhead parking lot, head toward the trail kiosk where you will find the well defined path. Poudre Wilderness Volunteers supports the Canyon Lakes Ranger district by doing trail work, Public education and assistance on front and back-country trails. The Deer Creek Trail is a segment of the Provo-Jordan River Parkway Trail. It’s a relatively easy hike at only 3.5 mile roundtrip. We get it.

We branched off to go up mountain and come back down towards the falls in behind/between the two mountains upstream of the cline river.

The June 2013 flood changed many of the trails that ran along creeks and rivers. This makes for a great lunch spot but we'd suggest heading a little further along the trail and down to the creek.

For those who have been on the Icefalls + Ice Bubble tour, this section of the trail is on the opposite side of the canyon. A coastal canyon of the Santa Monica Mountains where the creek flows directly to the ocean shore, Corral Canyon Park rests on a 1,000 acres of land and includes various hiking trails with gorgeous views.

A historic plaque for Henry Stelfox is bolted to the mountain face as well.We had a blast hiking Coral Creek Canyon, it was our first hike ever and found it to be the perfect amount of challenge. Several trails branch off from here, providing alternate routes/difficulties/distances. This area is abundant with wildlife that includes quail, deer, and Red-Tailed hawks. This portion of the trail system (Coal Creek & Cedar Canyon Trail) takes you through several parks, past notable monuments, and winds alongside the banks of Coal Creek and into the vibrant red rock views of Cedar Canyon. At this junction, stay on the horse trail for the easier option or continue straight ahead to join the more scenic hiking trail.Even if you intend to follow the horse trail at this point, we strongly encourage you to go straight ahead catch an up close view of the canyon. Easy enough for most I would say if you take your time. A steep section at the end got the heart rate up a bit.Love this trail. The horse trail was pretty rocky and harder to walk on than expected. You will see the trail on your left shortly after the viewpoint access.The trail described above is easy with some steeper sections.
1,722. Before these plans were implemented, the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy purchased the land and opened it to the public. Stunning!First hike of the year. Bit of some steep spots Perfect level of challenge to start the season off. The main trail to the south is very tough, with deep washouts, sand gullies and huge rocks.. You really need a modified jeep, custom 4x4, a motorcycle, or maybe an ATV with a lift to enjoy this trail. Trail was dry and easy to follow if you stayed on the larger main sections. A great intro to off trail route finding and scramble but you will work for it. Sooo worth it! This non-motorized trail is 8.03 miles long and is located on the western hillside above Deer Creek Reservoir. Hook onto the backbone trail that winds it's way across the Santa Monica mountain Trail continues up the valley but not well marked.we took my brother on his last ride and he lays to rest on the view point of coral creek . Choice of following the creek and gorge or just the main trail. Hiking poles are highly recommended. Such a rewarding hike!! May seem boring but once you reach the view point it is stunning. The trail leads into the scenic Salt River Range and links to the Swift Creek Trail #035, the Way Trail #079, the Sheep Pass Trail #171 and the Trail Fork Trail #037.Directions from Alpine: Go southeast on Greys River Road #10138 to the Corral Creek Guard Station. The Coral Ridge route is incredibly steep on the final approach. Coral Canyon is a fun time, with some creek crossings, a few technical areas, but mostly fast and flowing.
