yes, committees can recommend things, but ONE person, in the right place, in any company can often stop almost anything. Unlike most Director's Cuts, this really is a very different version of the film: while the first hour has more or less the same structure as the theatrical version, the last third is a significant departure. What still works here is the amazing visual style; I think it actually is betting in this version.
The Indie Fresh List: I have read that this film had issues in production which required heavy script doctoring and reshoots and while I have seen both, I still prefer the narrative of the cinematic release.
