Pathetic generic email saying the house was no longer available. Usually, the call would end with my being cut off, but persistence paid off and eventually, one day after four hours on hold, I managed to speak to a live person. Booked at cottage in France for 1 week from the 15/08/2020. Cancelled our booking for Bannerrigg View in Windermere with three days notice (we assume the owners wanted to use it). Cottages.com have clearly been swamped by the issues resulting from Covid-19 and, unlike many other organisations, have been completely unable to adapt their systems and procedures to cope effectively with the problems faced by their customers.

We had a holiday booked which we could not keep due to ill health (covid related), and we were quite willing to postpone or take a voucher, but they cancelled it and kept our deposit without speaking with us, although we tried to contact them so many times over 3 months I lost the will. A|lso there was to be absolutely no trace of any dog having been there left .

As it is, with the sympathetic help of the manager and owner of the property in Scotland, we have now been able to rebook for next year, and are very much looking forward to our delayed holiday. the accommodations information was misleading for dog friendly but upon arrival and going by the house "bible" which lists do's and don't it clearly stated that at no time can any dog be left alone in the house alone however we had a dog with a serious heart condition which cannot walk all the time we intended walking so could not enjoy our holiday to its full potential .
