The project team is also engaged in long-lead procurement and early construction works for key project infrastructure at the Tengiz site in Kazakhstan.Fluor-led joint venture is providing engineering, procurement and management services to TCO. The Wellhead Pressure Management Project (WPMP) will keep existing plants full by installation of a central pressure boost facility. Following implementation of an Incident and Injury Free (IIF) safety program, the project accumulated more than 163 million work hours and at its peak had an active work force of 25,000 personnel.Throughout the project, the team was committed to sending every worker home to their families unhurt and achieved this by the dedicated application of a strong people-centered safety culture./sitecollectionimages/projects/onshore-oil-gas-epcm-project-management/tco-onshore-oil-gas-es1250x527.jpg, Oil and Gas refinery - engineering374;#Tengizchevroil Future Growth Project - Wellhead Pressure Management Project;#1;#ExxonNeftegas Sakhalin Island Onshore Processing Facility - EPC;#123;#ESSO Onshore/Offshore Drilling and Production Platform - EPC2;#Energy & Chemicals;#17;#Onshore Oil & Gas Production;#20;#Sulfur Recovery The scope of facilities included two Frame 9E GE gas turbine generators, each with a nominal rating of 123 MWe, including all associated electrical, control and instrumentation equipment, and two supplementary-fired Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSGs). Engineering is led from Fluor’s office in Farnborough, UK and is supported by JV offices in New Delhi, Atyrau, Almaty and Houston. FGP will expand production by approximately 12 million tonnes per year. In addition to Fluor, KPJV consists of Kazakh Institute of Oil and Gas JSC, Engineering Company KAZGIPRONEFTETRANS LLP, and WorleyParsons. The project is owned and developed by the Tengizchevroil (TCO) a joint venture (JV), consisting of Chevron (50%), ExxonMobil (25%), KazMunayGas (20%) and LukArco (5%). Currently, the joint venture is working as part of an integrated team with Tengizchevroil on FGP-WPMP.Tengizchevroil LLP (TCO) is a Kazakhstani partnership that explores, develops, produces and markets crude oil, LPG, dry gas and sulfur. The projects included a number of firsts, including:The projects also required an extensive infrastructure upgrade that included 435 miles of railway. Modules will be assembled in fabrication yards in Korea, Italy and Kazakhstan before being shipped to site via the Russian Inland Waterway System.Fluor started working in Kazakhstan in 1982 and has been working with Tengizchevroil since 1997.
To mitigate the extreme weather conditions in the field as well as its remote location a modularized approach was proposed to construction, providing access to a broader workforce and reduce the infrastructure needed at site. Tengizchevroil's Future Growth Project-Wellhead Pressure Management Project (FGP-WPMP) is the next major expansion of oil production at Tengiz and is of significant importance to the Republic of Kazakhstan. Each HRSG is capable of generating a maximum of 450 tons per hour of steam at 370 °C and a pressure of 72 bar, using gas turbine exhaust gas and full supplementary firing. In addition to the major power plant equipment, the Fluor JV was responsible for all associated piping and support racking necessary, electrical and control equipment, and BOP equipment within the Power Island battery limits. The project team successfully delivered the world-scale $6.9 billion expansion of the oil and gas facilities for TCO in the second half of 2008. It was formed to provide detailed engineering, procurement and construction management support services for FGP-WPMP. In April 1993, Tengizchevroil was formed between the Republic of Kazakhstan and Chevron Corporation. Extreme weather conditions and temperatures range from +40 Celsius in summer to below -40 Celsius in winter.Key to the success of the project was pioneering a compressor and associated piping systems capable of delivering sour gas into the reservoir at 10,000 PSI in a way that is both safe and dependable. The Fluor JV also provided engineering, procurement and construction management services for a power plant at the TCO project site. Current partners are: Chevron Overseas Company, 50 percent; KazMunayGas NC JSC, 20 percent; ExxonMobil Kazakhstan Ventures Inc., 25 percent and LUKARCO B.V., 5 percent. The project engineering is being executed by Fluor and its joint venture partners from Fluor’s office in Farnborough, UK, with support from its engineering centers in Atyrau and Almaty, Kazakhstan; New Delhi, India; and Houston, as well as its integrated construction site in Tengiz.
